Solidity Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Welder to join our manufacturing team in Thomastown, Victoria.

Solidity is a specialist Australian manufacturer and installer of helical and screw pile foundation systems used across civil, commercial, and infrastructure projects. This role is focused on the fabrication and welding of heavy screw pile components used in demanding structural and infrastructure applications.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be required to carry out welding and fabrication works associated with the manufacture of heavy screw piles and related steel components, including:

  1. Interpreting blueprints, technical drawings and supervisor instructions to measure, mark and arrange materials for accurate layouts
  2. Selecting suitable materials for each project, cleaning surfaces and preparing precise layouts
  3. Cutting, shaping and smoothing metal surfaces according to measurements using appropriate hand tools and power tools
  4. Determining the appropriate welding equipment or welding method based on job requirements
  5. Performing MIG and TIG welding to fabricate and assemble steel and aluminium components, ensuring weld quality meets company standards and project specifications
  6. Using metal cutting machines and gas cutting torches as required
  7. Manufacturing and constructing steel and aluminium structures, components and custom products by interpreting technical drawings, preparing materials and delivering precise workmanship
  8. Fabricating and assembling heavy screw piles and related components for infrastructure projects
  9. Assembling structures by fastening components with bolts or rivets and performing welding as required
  10. Smoothing and finishing completed jobs, including grinding and chiselling to remove sharp edges and ensure quality
  11. Checking completed work and making any required corrections to ensure accuracy and compliance
  12. Working within company quality systems, procedures and safety requirements
  13. Consistently adhering to workplace safety and company Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold at least one of the following qualifications:

  1. Certificate III in Fabrication or Welding
  2. Certificate IV in Fabrication, Welding or Engineering
  3. Associate Degree in Engineering

Minimum Experience

Applicants must have:

  1. At least 1 year of experience in welding fabrication of heavy screw piles for infrastructure projects

Skills and Attributes

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  1. Strong welding and fabrication capability in a heavy manufacturing environment
  2. Experience working with structural steel or similar heavy fabricated products
  3. Ability to read and interpret workshop drawings and fabrication details
  4. Good attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices
  5. Reliability, accountability and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
