Subway Meats is an established wholesale meat supplier servicing butchers, retailers and commercial clients across South Australia. Our operations are fast-paced, hands-on and built around consistency, product quality and reliable daily delivery.

With continued growth and increasing order volumes, we are seeking a Supply & Distribution Manager to take ownership of the movement of goods across the business and ensure operations remain efficient, structured and scalable.

Key Duties and Responsibilities of the Role

The ideal Supply & Distribution Manager at Subway Meats will be expected to undertake duties including, but not limited to, the following:

i. Plan, implement and monitor Subway Meats’ supply, storage and distribution strategies, systems and workflows in line with operational requirements and growth objectives

ii. Coordinate the flow of our meat products and produce from procurement through to warehousing, order preparation, dispatch and final delivery whilst ensuring Q/A.

iii. Prepare and implement stock planning and replenishment arrangements to maintain required inventory levels while minimising wastage, spoilage, excess holding and stock shortages

iv. Monitor and review the Subway Meats facility’s storage and inventory practices across both ambient and temperature-controlled areas to ensure stock integrity, traceability and operational readiness

v. Oversee systems used to record incoming stock, storage movements, order allocation, dispatch activity and stock availability, ensuring timely re-ordering and accurate stock visibility

vi. Work closely with management in relation to procurement planning, supplier timing, product requirements, service reliability and cost control whilst adhering to all WHS compliance.

vii. Liaise and Coordinate with suppliers, service providers and contractors regarding quality, pricing, delivery timing and operational expectations

viii. Manage the daily dispatch cycle to ensure that customer orders are sorted, picked, packed and released accurately within required timeframes

ix. Coordinate distribution planning across multiple delivery regions, including scheduling priorities, order allocation, loading readiness and contractor communication

x. Supervise and direct the activities of staff involved in warehouse support, order preparation, stock movement, quality handling and dispatch coordination

xi. Monitor the performance of part-time, casual and contractor personnel and maintain an efficient and accountable work environment

xii. Respond to operational issues including delays, stock discrepancies, fulfilment errors, workflow bottlenecks, supplier shortfalls and urgent customer service matters

xiii. Maintain oversight of cold-chain handling practices relevant to fresh meat distribution, including coordination with quality control requirements

xiv. Review stock flow, labour use, order throughput and delivery efficiency, and implement practical improvements to support productivity and service outcomes

xv. Support forward planning around operational capacity, workflow structure and labour coordination

xvi. Ensure our products and service outcomes meet customer expectations across all wholesale accounts

xvii. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of systems, processes and operational discipline as the business continues to grow

Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes

At Subway Meats, our hiring team looking for an Experienced professional who brings maturity, sound judgment and strong hands-on operational capability to help scale our operations. The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:

i. Extensive operational experience in supply chain, warehouse, logistics, procurement, dispatch or distribution management

ii. Strong practical ability to coordinate stock movement, replenishment planning, storage systems and order fulfilment in a fast-moving environment

iii. Demonstrated experience supervising mixed workforces, including staff, part-time personnel, casual workers and external contractors

iv. Strong understanding of inventory systems, stock control disciplines, warehouse workflow and outward distribution planning

v. Experience in food, meat, cold-chain logistics, wholesale distribution or other perishable goods operations will be highly regarded

vi. Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage operational priorities calmly and effectively

vii. The ability to identify inefficiencies, implement process improvements and maintain service standards under daily time pressure

viii. Sound commercial awareness in relation to purchasing, stock control, labour coordination and delivery outcomes

ix. The ability to work closely with business ownership and management in a trusted operational capacity

Qualifications and Experience

i. A relevant tertiary qualification in supply chain management, logistics, operations, business or a related field would be advantageous, but is not essential

ii. At least five years of relevant management experience in supply, warehousing, logistics, dispatch, inventory or distribution operations may be accepted in lieu of formal tertiary qualifications

iii. Substantial senior-level experience in food, meat, wholesale distribution or other perishablegoods operations will be highly regarded
