About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Soft Seating Team Leader to join our furniture manufacturing team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily production activities within the soft seating department, ensuring high-quality output, and driving team performance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of upholsterers, sewing machinists, and production staff

Oversee daily production to meet targets such as “chairs per person” and delivery deadlines

Perform upholstery tasks including creating patterns, cutting, sewing, frame assembly, and finishing.

Ensure all products meet quality standards and customer specifications

Identify and resolve production issues, including quality deviations and delays.

Train and mentor team members, including new hires and trainees

Delegate tasks effectively and ensure workflow is organised before each shift

Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment Monitor inventory levels (e.g., staples, materials) and coordinate replenishment

Collaborate with Production Managers to improve processes and productivity Maintain accurate production records and report on team performance

About You

You are a proactive leader with strong technical upholstery skills and a passion for quality craftsmanship. You thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and can balance hands-on work with team supervision.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Previous experience in furniture manufacturing or upholstery

Minimum 1 year experience in a Team Leader or Supervisor role

Strong understanding of production processes and quality control

Experience working with patterns, sewing, cutting, and assembly

Key Skills & Attributes

Strong leadership and team management skills

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Effective communication and organisational skills

Positive attitude and willingness to drive continuous improvement

Experience working with Pathfinder Fabric Cutting Machine is highly regarded.
