We provide daily essentials including newspapers, magazines, stationery, greeting cards, gifts, and convenience items. Our store is also a full-service lottery agent, selling a wide range of TattsLotto, Powerball, and instant scratch-its tickets. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, reliable hub where locals can access both retail and lottery services in one convenient location.
Key Responsibilities
As a full-time Retail Manager your duties will include:
- Determine appropriate product mix, stock levels, and customer service standards for products such as greeting cards, gifts, magazines, newspapers, office and school stationery, and art supplies, as well as TattsLotto and Instant Scratch-Its services, to ensure efficient store operations.
- Develop and implement purchasing, pricing, and marketing strategies for these products and services to optimise sales performance.
- Promote and advertise store offerings, including greeting cards, gifts, magazines, newspapers, stationery, art supplies, and TattsLotto products, to attract and retain customers.
- Serve customers and provide advice on store products and services, including Lotto tickets, Instant Scratch-Its, and a range of stationery and gift items.
- Maintain accurate records of sales, stock levels, and financial transactions for all product categories and TattsLotto operations.
- Prepare and manage budgets to support business objectives and ensure profitability across all product lines.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of staff handling the sale of greeting cards, gifts, stationery, art supplies, magazines, newspapers, and TattsLotto products to maintain high service standards.
- Ensure all operations comply with occupational health and safety and lottery regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- A qualification in business, retail management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in retail operations, preferably within a newsagency, convenience store, or lottery outlet.
- Strong customer service and communication skills with a focus on creating a positive in-store experience.
- Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage stock and staff effectively.
- Basic accounting and budgeting knowledge, with experience handling cash and maintaining financial records.
- Familiarity with TattsLotto or other lottery systems (highly regarded).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, close-knit team.
