Watt Export are seeking an experienced, hands-on Quality Assurance Manager to lead and strengthen Watt Export’s quality and food-safety systems across the warehouse and supply chain. The role is responsible for maintaining compliance with food-safety standards, driving continuous improvement in product quality, managing supplier quality and traceability, and coaching staff in best practice QA processes. The ideal candidate combines technical food-safety knowledge with practical operational experience in fresh produce or a related food environment.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  1. Relevant bachelor degree.
  2. Minimum of one year experience in quality assurance, food safety or quality management—experience in fresh produce, horticulture or perishable foods is highly desirable.
  3. Practical knowledge of HACCP principles and experience implementing/managing food-safety systems.
  4. Experience with third-party food-safety standards and audits
  5. Demonstrated experience conducting audits, root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Own and maintain the company’s food safety and quality management systems (HACCP, QA documentation, traceability and recall procedures).
  2. Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits/ certifications and regulatory inspections.
  3. Develop, monitor and report on quality KPIs (rejects, customer complaints, compliance rates) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  4. Perform product inspections, sampling and testing procedures; manage non-conformance investigations and root-cause analysis.
  5. Manage supplier onboarding and supplier quality assurance activities, including audits, specification compliance and performance monitoring.
  6. Work closely with Supply Chain, Procurement and Operations to ensure product specification adherence, cold-chain integrity and timely corrective actions.
  7. Maintain and improve traceability systems and recall readiness; coordinate any recall communications and investigations.
  8. Create and maintain quality documentation, records and SOPs; ensure version control and staff accessibility.
  9. Train, mentor and coach warehouse and operational staff on quality, hygiene and food-safety best practices.
  10. Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce waste, improve yields and enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.

Skills Requirements:

  1. Strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills.
  2. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage operational teams and external suppliers.
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced, physical environment (warehouse/fresh produce market).
  5. Confident leading training, change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  6. Sound knowledge of relevant food safety legislation and regulatory requirements (FSANZ/State health regulators) is an advantage.
