Position Summary

This position assists the Production Manager in coordinating activities of Team Members by performing the following duties:

Lead a group of team members to ensure daily and short-term objectives are met. Typical objectives include: Safety, Productivity, Profitability, continual improvement goals in cost, quality, cycle time, and new product introductions into a specific process. Interfaces with other functional areas including Engineering or Purchasing, to minimise downtime and improve the production area.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinates the activities of team members engaged in the operation of equipment and processes to meet production/customer requirements.• Effectively interacts with all departments in a positive manner to ensure production/NPI/customer goals are achieved.• Interprets process specifications for team members.• Monitors production and adjusts work assignments, supply of material, and machine operation when necessary.• Trains team members in production requirements and equipment operation.• Identifies material required for daily production and works with material handlers to manage movement between production lines and storage areas.• Confers with team leader in setting production levels exchange production information.• Suggests changes in working conditions, set up, use of equipment to increase efficiency team members and production flow. (either personal or from team input)• Suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.• Provides feedback to Production Manager regarding performance evaluations of team members.• Maintains time and production records.• Performs production line tasks to quality, quantity and productivity standards defined by work instructions, samples, engineering advice or company proprietary knowledge using hand tools and/or operating equipment.• Works minimum 50% of their time on-line in order to stay current with issues and support product demand levels.• Adheres to and enforces safety regulations.• Adheres to and enforces ESG requirements.• Represents manufacturing at production meetings and NPI meetings.• Daily metric: Safety, Productivity, Profitability, Quality, personnel management• Monthly metrics: All of the above plus, Capacity management, Continual improvement as compared to base line process• Implement Lean Enterprise techniques including: Process mapping, monthly continual improvement of reducing NVA, and 5S• Interprets process specifications for team members.• Identify new products planned for your area, and ensure your area is ready to support the forecast with trained team members, equipment, and process changes.• Ensure ISO documents for your area and processes are accurate, and are being followed.

Essential Skills

• Ability to satisfactorily perform all duties outlined in Assembler Level 3 Advanced job description.• Strong leadership skills with ability to establish self directed work teams, hold team members accountable, and regularly develop team member’s skills. • Demonstrated problem solving ability• Effective at leading team through change, and resolving conflict positively• Ability to work and have close interaction with Team Members in a positive and effective manner. Possess good Team Work skills Possesses strong teamwork skills.• Proven ability to effectively train team members.• Supports flexibility and initiative to move between departments when necessary.• Demonstrated literacy and numeracy skills• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written• Commitment to customer service and quality management. • Time management and organisational skills.• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office skills as a minimum.• Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Completion of Year 12 and 5 years plus related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.• Experience in electronic assembly

Desired Qualifications & Experience

• TAFE qualification in a related field• 5+ years experience in electronic assembly or other manufacturing.• Advanced soldering skills.• Advanced component identification skills.
