About the Business:
Ollies Cake House is a reputable bakery based in Ipswich,QLD, specialising in high-quality pastries, cakes, and baked goods. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Pastrycook to join our team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect equipment and work areas prior to production to ensure cleanliness and compliance with workplace health and safety standards
- Assess the quality of raw ingredients and accurately measure and prepare them for production
- Prepare and process dough and pastry items through mixing, kneading, shaping, and finishing techniques
- Produce a variety of pastry fillings in line with product requirements
- Control and monitor baking processes, including oven temperatures and baking times, to ensure product consistency and quality
- Oversee the full production cycle including forming, baking, cooling, and handling of bakery products
- Apply glazes and decorate cakes and pastries using creams, icings, and other finishes
- Operate and maintain bakery equipment used for rolling, shaping, and cutting dough
- Clean, maintain, and prepare baking trays, tins, and equipment in accordance with hygiene standards
Skills & Requirements:
- Relevant qualification (Certificate III or IV in Patisserie or equivalent) or at least a year of relevant work experience
- Strong technical knowledge of pastry production, baking methods, and cake decoration techniques
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations
- Ability to operate commercial baking equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on product quality and consistency
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
