We have full time roles available for skilled, qualified and motivated individuals to join the Balco hay processing team based at Wannamal (Western Australia).

Responsibilities:

As Mechanical Engineering Technician your primary task will be to maintain, repair, install, improve and operate mechanical systems and equipment within the hay processing plant. Role ensures plant machinery operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with workplace health and safety standards:

  1. Assist in the installation, modifying, commissioning and maintenance of plant machinery and mechanical equipment
  2. Preparing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work
  3. Maintain accurate technical records and documentation
  4. Support and implement process improvements
  5. Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs to minimise downtime
  6. Liaise with production and maintenance teams to support technical operational requirements
  7. Select tools and equipment
  8. Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and performance testing
  9. Ensure compliance with WHS regulations and company safety policies
  10. Provide production support to operate machinery as back up if required
  11. Liaise with relevant personnel to coordinate process improvements, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain plant efficiency
  12. Provide support, guidance, training, and mentorship to technicians-in-training, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement
  13. Assist in loading and unloading raw and finished products, supporting logistics and production flow, as back up if required
  14. Report on safety, plant performance, and technical issues, raising concerns promptly with the goal of optimising plant productivity and safety standards.

Skills and experience:

  1. Trade or degree qualified in relevant area (e.g., mechanical, hydraulic, automation, electrical) is highly desirable.
  2. At least two years of previous experience as engineering technician in similar industry/field preferred.
  3. Sound mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge (fault finding).
  4. Sound knowledge/experience with automation systems and flow paths advantageous.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a high performing team.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to safety values and behaviours.
  7. Forklift license advantageous.
  8. Good communication skills combined with being a team player is a must.
  9. Applicants must hold valid Australian work rights including citizenship, permanent residency, or appropriate work visa.

Salary offered will be dependent on level of skill, qualification and classification and will be between $76,515 - $95,000 per annum + super (depending on shift arrangements).
