We are actively engaged with our State Government client in Geelong who are looking for a Health and well-being Partner to commence an initial contract till EOFY with possible extension.
The Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Partner is accountable for contributing to the development, implementation and management of HSW procedures and processes whilst supporting the ongoing improvement, efficient and effective delivery of HSW across the department. This includes participating in the implementation of processes and activities including the identification, management and control of hazards, prevention of injuries, management of occupational health and safety issues.
Key Role Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of innovative and strategic solutions to enable and support the delivery, application and governance of the department’s HSW management system, including the HSW Policy, Procedures, Safe Work Practices and Guidelines.
- Provide specialist practitioner advice to ensure the identification, control, compliance and monitoring of emerging and key HSW risks, through the development, consultation and implementation of regulatory and non-regulatory practices.
- Coordinate and facilitate the identification, investigation, control of HSW hazards and risks across divisional areas, and implement appropriate strategies and treatments to reduce risk areas.
- Consult and work collaboratively with business areas to support injury management and return-to-work processes, including the management of workers compensation claims to drive preventative and early intervention outcomes.
- Contribute to the design, development, activation and promotion of Health and Wellbeing programs with the focus driving positive Physical and Psychological wellbeing outcomes.
- Participate in the development, implementation, compliance, monitoring and continual improvement of the HSW Management System via the completion of internal assurance audits.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives of the incident management platform, incident investigation and injury/illness case management processes to support effective safety performance.
- Engage with key stakeholders, People Leaders and employees to ensure the successful translation of the department's Strategy into practical people and operational support
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the successful translation of the department’s HSW Strategy into practical people and operational support and actions.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and contribute to the objectives outlined in the PC&E divisional plan and encourage the continual improvement of a proactive HSW culture.
- Apply continuous improvement methodology and practice across divisions/s self.
Key Selection Criteria
Relevant Qualifications, Work Experience & Specialised Knowledge
- Demonstrated understanding and application of relevant OHS legislation, codes of practice and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and manage OHS risks including hazards, near miss and injured and ill employees to drive best outcomes.
- Experience in OHS process development, policy implementation and operational requirements such as incident investigations.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to engage, influence, collaborate, leverage networks and negotiate.
- Software (HRIS, MS office)
- Certificate IV Work Health Safety or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Certified Return to Work Coordinator (desirable)
