The Purpose Behind These Roles

At KAMS, we are restoring continuity to communities that deserve consistency, stability, and trusted medical care.

KAMS is looking for multiple experienced General Practitioners across the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

All roles report to the Senior Medical Officer and are responsible for delivering high-quality primary healthcare while strengthening continuity, governance, and culturally safe service delivery.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Providing comprehensive primary healthcare aligned with best-practice standards
  2. Managing acute presentations and stabilising emergencies in remote settings
  3. Supporting chronic disease management, recalls, and preventative health initiatives
  4. Working collaboratively with Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Workers, alongside Remote Area Nurses
  5. Contributing to audit processes, incident management, and governance oversight
  6. Strengthening continuity of care through consistent follow-up and relationship-based practice

Importantly, you will not be working in isolation. Each clinic operates within a structured multidisciplinary framework with strong support from the Senior Medical Officer and central clinical governance teams.

Three Roles. Distinct Locations. One Shared Commitment.1. Senior General Practitioner - Kutjungka Region

(Balgo, Mulan & Billiluna)

This senior role exists to bring stability and clinical oversight to highly remote desert communities.

Work Model

  1. 4 weeks living and working on-site in the community, including 24/7 on-call responsibilities
  2. 8 weeks providing structured telehealth and clinic support (approximately 3 days per week)
  3. Remote support can be delivered from Broome, another KAMS clinic, or from home anywhere in Australia

During on-site periods, you will provide hands-on care and serve as a key escalation point for Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Workers, alongside nursing staff. During remote support weeks, you will strengthen governance processes, oversee recalls, assist chronic disease clinics, and support continuity, clinical oversight, and coordinated follow-up across service periods.

Remuneration

  1. Circa $317,177 PLUS Super
  2. 25% Availability Allowance during the 4-week on-site period
  3. $300 per day when rostered as first on-call during the support phase
  4. Medical Indemnity Insurance provided
  5. Accommodation and Flights are provided during community periods.

2. General Practitioner - Bidyadanga

Located approximately 2 hours from Broome, Bidyadanga is one of Western Australia’s largest remote Aboriginal communities and offers the opportunity to embed yourself in long-term, relationship-based practice within a coastal setting.

This role focuses on long-term primary care delivery, cultural engagement, and supporting the local health workforce in a vibrant coastal setting.

Remuneration

  1. Circa $307,938 PLUS Super
  2. Accommodation provided (if living in the community)
  3. Relocation assistance by negotiation
  4. Salary packaging and professional development opportunities
  5. 2 Weeks paid Study Leave
  6. Medical Indemnity Insurance provided

3. General Practitioner - Kutjungka Region (FIFO)

(FIFO 4 Weeks On / 8 Weeks Off)

A clinically focused remote GP role supporting Balgo, Mulan and Billiluna communities.

You will work within a close-knit remote clinic team delivering comprehensive primary healthcare, with some emergency medicine exposure. While governance responsibilities are lighter than the senior role, the clinical environment requires confidence, adaptability, and rural competence.

Remuneration

  1. Circa $307,595 (pro-rata) PLUS Super
  2. 25% availability and call-out payment
  3. Modern Furnished Accommodation during community periods
  4. Medical Indemnity Insurance provided
  5. Flights provided

The Experience We’re Looking For

To qualify, you will need current or eligible medical registration in Western Australia and demonstrated experience in rural and remote general practice.

These roles require established rural and remote experience and are not suited to clinicians new to remote practice. The level of isolation, clinical complexity, and emergency exposure, particularly in the Kutjungka communities, requires confidence and prior experience in similar settings.

Additionally, the following background will be highly valued:

  1. Experience working within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services
  2. Commitment to continuity of care and long-term patient relationships
  3. Experience contributing to audits, recalls, and governance processes
  4. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary clinical structures

As our ideal candidate, you are resilient, adaptable, and motivated by meaningful work. You value relationship-based medicine, understand the realities of remote practice, and are seeking a role where your contribution strengthens both community health and clinical systems.

Rewarded for Your Commitment

We recognise the level of responsibility and resilience required to practise in remote communities. Our remuneration packages are structured to reflect that.

In addition to role-specific salary packages, benefits include:

  1. Accommodation while working in the community
  2. Flights provided or reimbursed at reasonable cost
  3. Salary packaging up to $30,000
  4. Superannuation
  5. Medical Indemnity Insurance
  6. Professional development opportunities
  7. A salaried, bulk-billing model
  8. A workplace committed to long-term workforce sustainability and cultural safety
