Central Logistics Australia Pty Ltd is a Melbourne-based logistics services provider delivering scalable freight and transportation solutions across local, regional, and interstate networks. Operating under a subcontracted B2B model, the company supports third-party logistics providers, national retailers, and courier networks with reliable fleet and driver solutions, particularly during peak demand periods.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Fleet Manager to oversee the management, performance, and lifecycle of our vehicle fleet. This is a key operational role responsible for ensuring fleet efficiency, compliance, and cost control while supporting service delivery across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full lifecycle of fleet vehicles, including procurement, leasing, maintenance, and disposal in line with operational and commercial requirements.
- Assess operational needs and determine appropriate vehicle types and fleet composition to meet business demand.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers, leasing providers, and service partners to secure cost-effective solutions for vehicle acquisition and maintenance.
- Ensure all fleet vehicles are maintained, serviced, and compliant with Australian transport regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and registration requirements.
- Monitor vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and operating costs, and implement improvements to optimise fleet performance.
- Maintain accurate records for all fleet activities, including servicing, registration, insurance, and asset documentation.
- Manage the disposal and replacement of fleet assets to maintain operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide guidance and advice to internal teams and business stakeholders on vehicle selection, acquisition, and fleet utilisation.
- Track maintenance schedules, coordinate repairs, and ensure minimal downtime for vehicles.
- Prepare operational reports, cost analyses, and fleet performance summaries for management review.
- Monitor market conditions, supplier offerings, and industry trends to inform fleet decisions.
- Liaise with drivers, operational teams, and external partners to ensure smooth day-to-day fleet operations.
Skills and Educational Qualification:
- At least 1 year of relevant experience
- A qualification in logistics, automotive management, or a similar field is advantageous but not required
- Awareness of Australian transport compliance and safety requirements
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Good communication skills, able to work effectively with drivers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Positive and proactive approach to supporting day-to-day fleet operations
