The Opportunity

We are now looking for a full-time Farm Manager based in Wellington, NSW.

This pivotal role manages a Breeder Farm, reporting directly to the Complex Manager, and is accountable for managing day to day operations and enhancing overall production performance through technical abilities and practical skills.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Providing strong and supportive leadership ensuring talent development in alignment with company compliance standards
  2. Planning and coordinating livestock operations to achieve best practice and meet objectives
  3. Ensuring high bird welfare and biosecurity in accordance with company policies
  4. Implementing and adhering to animal husbandry, rearing, and production practices
  5. Liaising with the Wellington Complex Manager on bodyweight profiles and feed rate adjustments
  6. Conducting farm audits to ensure strain security and biosecurity compliance
  7. Optimising flock performance and identifying corrective actions for deviations from standards
  8. Promoting Health & Safety through training, regular discussions, and compliance monitoring
  9. A mechanical aptitude and the energy and willingness to pitch in on the farm on a daily basis to ensure best performance standards are met

What We Need From You

To qualify, you will need a high level of poultry knowledge and a proven record of leadership and management. A minimum of 5 years experience in poultry production operations will be considered essential. Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  1. Knowledge and understanding of the Animal Welfare codes
  2. Very good knowledge of husbandry practices and animal health issues
  3. Planning, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  4. Communication and reporting skills
  5. Staff leadership, development, and management

As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong leadership capabilities and excellent communication skills, as well as a proactive management style and the ability to foster a team-based work environment.

This is a role of paramount importance, a candidate who can enhance the overall performance of the operation with their technical abilities and practical skills but is also passionate about animal welfare and driven to achieve high-performance targets will be an ideal fit.
