We are looking for an Exploration Geologist to join the team! In this role, you will be responsible for executing field-based exploration activities to support the discovery and development of gold resources at the Mt Ida Gold Mine. This is a full-time ongoing position working a fly-in, fly-out roster (8 days on, 6 days off), 12-hour shifts per day)
Main tasks:
This is a critical operational role, with responsibilities including (but not limited to):
-Conduct geological fieldwork including mapping, sampling, drill site preparation, and geochemical surveys.
-Contribute to early-stage exploration activities including geochemical sampling, geophysical survey support, and target generation for both near-mine and regional programs.
-Liaise with and supervise drilling contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
-Coordinate collection, validation, custody, and delivery of geological data and samples in line with Quality assurance and quality control protocols.
-Support geological interpretation and contribute to target generation, drill planning, and results analysis.
-Ensure exploration activities comply with heritage agreements, environmental approvals, and regulatory requirements.
-Provide field leadership and mentoring to field assistants and drilling crews.
-Contribute to logistics planning including consumables, equipment, and camp requirements.
-Maintain accurate records and support preparation of internal reports and statutory submissions.
-Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, actively contributing to pre-starts, JHAs, and hazard management processes.
Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:
-Minimum of a relevant Bachelor Degree of Science (Geology) or equivalent from a recognised institution.
-Minimum 3 years’ industry experience as an Exploration Geologist
Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:
-Current and valid unrestricted WA Class C Driver’s Licence.
-Senior First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent).
-4WD training and demonstrated off-road driving competency.
-Proficiency in GIS, 3D modelling software, and geological databases.
-Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
-Ability to work independently and maintain high safety standards in remote field environments.
-Proven experience supervising drilling programs and managing contractors in remote exploration environments.
-Demonstrated capability in field mapping, sampling, geological interpretation, and drill program execution.
-Hands-on use of geological and mining software(e.g. QGIS, Leapfrog,Deswik, acQuire).
-Experience preparing or contributing to statutory reporting under WA mining legislation.
-Applied knowledge of QAQC procedures, drilling and sampling practices, and analytical methods in gold exploration.
-Exposure to both near-mine and greenfields exploration, including early-stage target generation and drill testing.
