What you’ll do: 

  • Proactively identify, assess, and monitor risks across digital, cyber, and emerging AI initiatives, influencing outcomes across both projects and business-as-usual operations.
  • Partner with program, project, and portfolio teams to provide practical, forward-thinking guidance on risk mitigation and treatment strategies.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and insightful reporting to senior stakeholders, escalating key risks and driving informed decision-making at governance forums.
  • Maintain and continuously enhance risk registers (including AI), ensuring robust controls, clear insights, and audit-ready assurance across the organisation.
  • Facilitate engaging workshops and training to uplift digital, cyber, and AI risk awareness and maturity across teams.


What we are looking for:  

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Security, IT Risk, Governance, or a related discipline, with the credibility to operate in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Deep knowledge of cyber security, digital, and emerging AI risk frameworks, alongside governance, compliance, and assurance practices.
  • Demonstrated success managing digital, cyber, or technology risks across large-scale programs, portfolios, or enterprise settings.
  • Skilled at engaging and influencing a diverse audience—from senior executives to technical delivery teams—building trust and driving action.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining risk registers, controls, and reporting that drive visibility and informed decision-making.

We are a State-Owned Corporation established under the WaterNSW Act 2014 and operates under an Operating Licence issued and monitored by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART). 

We do this through: 

Source water protection: protection of the Greater Sydney drinking water catchment to ensure safe water is supplied to Sydney Water, local councils and other distributors for treatment and distribution to their customers. 

Bulk water supply: supply water from our storages to customers in the Greater Sydney drinking water catchment and in the state’s regulated surface water systems. 

System operator: efficient management of the state’s surface and groundwater resources to maximise reliability for users through the operation of the state’s river systems and bulk water supply systems, in collaboration with the Murray-Darling Basin Authority which directs operations of the River Murray system.

Infrastructure planning, delivery and operation:  meet customer-defined levels of service consistent with NSW Government policy and priorities to increase the security and reliability of water supplies to our customers and communities of NSW. 

Customer water transaction and information services: provide efficient and timely services to our customers for water licensing and approvals, water trades, billing and meet their water resource information needs for surface and groundwater quantity and quality.
