We are seeking to employ a qualified and experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic on a full-time basis to support the ongoing maintenance and repair of diesel-powered vehicles and machinery used in the business operations. This is a genuine full-time position and is critical to ensuring the safety, reliability, and operational efficiency of the company’s fleet and equipment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, conducting routine servicing, and maintaining diesel engines, heavy vehicles, and associated mechanical systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workplace safety requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Diesel Motor Mechanic will be required to perform duties including, but not limited to:

  1. detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and associated components
  2. dismantling, repairing, and replacing defective engine parts, transmissions, fuel systems, brake systems, steering assemblies, and suspension components
  3. performing scheduled servicing, maintenance, inspections, and testing of diesel-powered vehicles and machinery
  4. carrying out engine tune-ups and adjustments to ensure vehicles operate efficiently and safely
  5. using diagnostic equipment and specialised tools to identify faults and verify repair outcomes
  6. inspecting vehicles and machinery to determine the nature and extent of wear, damage, or malfunction
  7. testing repaired vehicles and equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with operational standards
  8. maintaining accurate service and repair records for workshop and compliance purposes
  9. ensuring all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety policies and relevant industry standards
  10. assisting in preventative maintenance planning to minimise breakdowns and operational downtime

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  1. a relevant qualification equivalent to AQF Certificate III or higher in automotive or diesel mechanical technology
  2. at least two years of relevant post-qualification work experience, or alternatively, three years of relevant work experience where applicable
  3. demonstrated experience in the maintenance and repair of diesel engines, heavy vehicles, commercial vehicles, or machinery
  4. sound diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  5. the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  6. good communication skills and strong attention to detail
  7. a commitment to safe work practices and workshop compliance requirements

Employment Conditions

This is a full-time position with standard working hours of 38 hours per week. The salary on offer is from $77,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience. Reasonable additional hours may be required to meet operational needs.
