The Lara Hotel and Phoenix Hotel are well‑established pub venues located in Lara and Geelong, operating under the same ownership. We are seeking a skilled Cook / Chef to join our kitchen team and support consistent, high‑quality food service across both venues.

About the role

This is a hands‑on role working in busy hotel bistro kitchens, preparing classic pub meals and supporting smooth day‑to‑day kitchen operations.

Key duties

  1. Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with venue standards
  2. Ensure consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation
  3. Assist with menu preparation and daily service requirements
  4. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment
  5. Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures
  6. Assist with stock control and minimise food waste
  7. Work effectively as part of a kitchen team during service periods

About you

  1. Relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent experience
  2. Previous experience in a hotel, pub, or high‑volume kitchen
  3. Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  4. Ability to work under pressure during busy service times
  5. Reliable, well organised, and a strong team contributor
  6. Flexible availability including evenings and weekends
  7. Access to reliable transport is essential, due to shift times and work across venues
