At Taj Agra, we pride ourselves on delivering authentic Indian and Halal cuisine with exceptional taste and quality. We are looking for a qualified Cook for our restaurant.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare a range of high-quality meals for our customers
  2. Help design new menu items
  3. Help estimate stock requirements
  4. Streamline processes between our wait staff and kitchen staff

Duties:

  1. Clean food preparation areas, maintain hygiene standards, regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  2. Set up staff workstations with the necessary ingredients and cooking equipment
  3. Prepare cooking ingredients (measure ingredients, chop and peel vegetables and cut meat)
  4. Inspecting food items to guarantee quality
  5. Maintain customer expectations and accommodate guests with allergies
  6. Monitor ingredient quality for freshness and storing in temperature-controlled facilities
  7. Monitor stock levels and place orders
  8. Liaise with front-of-house staff to ensure they serve hot food
  9. Operate kitchen appliances and cooking apparatus
  10. Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes according to our expectations
  11. Supervise and may train other kitchen staff and apprentices

Qualification, experience and skills:

  1. Must have Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
  2. Must have at least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
  3. Passion for creating delicious and high-quality food.
  4. Strong communication skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
