Position: Network and Systems Engineer
Location: 2/667 High Street, Preston, VIC 3072
Salary: $80k - $85k + superannuation
Roles and Responsibilities
- Observe network traffic, and activity, capacity and usage to confirm continued
integrity and best network performance.
- Provide network programming in support of specific business needs, record diagnosis
and resolution faults.
- Providing improvements to the integrated hardware, software, network operations,
operating systems and communication systems and maintenance of instructions
- Installation, configuration, testing new and upgraded networks, applications of
software database, workstations and servers.
- Support the management team and provide suggestions for systems software
purchase and vendor support agreements for systems.
- Developing and maintaining the network architecture and optimising the systems
performance.
- Configuring the network systems, monitoring, researching, analysing and assessing
the network infrastructure to guarantee the optimal performance of networks.
- Performing regular data backups to ensure recovery solutions during disaster
recovery in research operations and keeping records.
To Be Accepted for this Role
- At least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of post-qualification experience in network and systems engineering, or a similar role.
- Technical proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP), VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Knowledge of network architecture, system integration, security, and troubleshooting complex issues.
- Experience in configuring routers, switches, and wireless networks, as well as monitoring tools like Nagios or SolarWinds.
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Must have full working rights in Australia.
- Location: Preston, VIC 3072. Candidates must reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
