Migrant Centre Organisation Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting migrants, refugees, and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. We provide a range of settlement, advocacy, and community development services aimed at promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and social participation.
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Community Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering community programs, supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, and facilitating access to essential services.
Key responsibilities:
As a Community Worker, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
·Engage with individuals, families, and community groups to identify needs and provide appropriate support
·Assist clients in navigating and accessing services such as housing, healthcare, education, employment, and legal assistance
·Develop, implement, and evaluate community-based programs and initiatives that address social issues
·Provide guidance, advocacy, and referrals to help clients achieve greater independence and wellbeing
·Work collaboratively with government bodies, non-government organisations, and local stakeholders to coordinate services
·Facilitate group activities, workshops, and outreach programs that promote inclusion and participation
·Support clients in building life skills, resilience, and community connections
·Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and reports in line with organisational and regulatory requirements
·Monitor client progress and adjust support plans as needed
·Contribute to community development strategies and identify emerging issues affecting migrant communities
Requirements - capabilities and competencies
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
·Relevant qualification in Community Services, Social Work, or a related field
·Minimum 1 year work experience in a similar role
·Strong understanding of migrant and refugee issues
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
·Ability to work with culturally diverse communities
·Current driver’s licence and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
·Mandarin-speaking is an advantage
