Community Worker

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Community Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will facilitate community development initiatives and support individuals and families facing social, health, housing, employment, and welfare challenges.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assess clients’ needs and plan, develop, and implement educational, training, and support programs
2. Interview clients and evaluate the nature and extent of their challenges
3. Monitor client progress and prepare reports on outcomes and support plans
4. Refer clients to relevant agencies and services that can provide additional assistance
5. Assess community needs and available resources related to health, welfare, housing, employment, and training
6. Liaise with community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies, and private organizations to address community issues
7. Promote awareness of community resources and support services
8. Support families and provide care and education for children and persons with disabilities in community or supported housing settings
9. Assist young people in addressing social, emotional, and financial challenges
10. Supervise and support individuals on probation or parole where required
11. Prepare submissions for funding, resources, and reports for government bodies and other relevant agencies

Skills and Qualifications

1. Relevant qualification in Community Services, Social Work, or a related field
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
3. Ability to assess needs and develop effective support strategies
4. Knowledge of community services, welfare systems, and support networks
5. Experience working with vulnerable individuals or community groups is highly desirable
6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
