Commissioning Manager

Lead commissioning across some of Australia’s most critical renewable and electrical infrastructure projects.

PSD Energy is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to take ownership of commissioning activities across solar, BESS, substations, switch rooms, and electrical systems within EPC project environments.

This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical capability with leadership and can drive safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery from testing through to energisation and handover.

The Opportunity

As Commissioning Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning activities across multiple projects nationwide. You will be responsible for ensuring systems are tested, verified, and delivered in line with client requirements, regulatory standards, and project timelines.

Responsibilities

Will include but not limited too:

1. Lead commissioning activities across Solar, BESS, Substations, and Switch room projects
2. Oversee HV, MV, and LV testing and commissioning of plant and equipment
3. Manage commissioning engineers, subcontractors, and specialist providers
4. Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and test programs

Conduct and oversee:

1. Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
2. Site commissioning and energisation
3. Protection & control system testing (including IEC 61850 environments)
4. Interpret and validate test results in line with regulatory and client standards
5. Ensure compliance with WHS, Quality, and Environmental systems
6. Manage commissioning budgets, schedules, and resource allocation
7. Maintain strong relationships with clients, network providers, and stakeholders
8. Drive high-quality documentation, reporting, and handover processes
9. Support fault finding, maintenance, and refurbishment works within live environments

Skills & Experience

8–10+ years’ experience in commissioning and testing of electrical systems

Strong experience across:

1. Substations and primary plant
2. Protection & control systems
3. Renewable energy projects (Solar and/or BESS highly regarded)
4. Experience with HV, MV & LV systems
5. Knowledge of Australian standards, regulatory requirements, and testing procedures
6. Proven leadership experience managing teams and delivering to project budgets
7. Experience in EPC project environments
8. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
9. Ability to travel and work away from home as required
