Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager and working closely with the Head of Commissioning, you'll execute testing and commissioning activities for high-voltage transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects across Australia. This is hands-on technical work where your ability to systematically test, troubleshoot, and validate electrical systems directly determines whether projects energise safely and perform to specification. You'll work on live HV infrastructure, BESS installations, and utility-scale renewable assets, gaining diverse experience across some of Australia's most significant energy projects.

What You'll Do

  1. Commissioning Support & Execution: Undertake commissioning activities for transmission and distribution projects, supporting technical teams in system energisation and validation.
  2. Testing & System Validation: Conduct testing and fault diagnosis for secondary systems, ensuring compliance with performance and safety standards.
  3. Technical Troubleshooting: Support the identification and resolution of commissioning, operation, and maintenance issues for HV and LV electrical systems.
  4. Stakeholder Coordination: Work collaboratively with engineers, contractors, and clients to align commissioning tasks with project timelines and specifications.
  5. Safety & Compliance: Follow established safety protocols and regulatory requirements to ensure commissioning activities meet industry standards.
  6. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with project teams, fostering a positive and productive work environment that drives successful outcomes.
  7. Proactive Support: Embrace opportunities to contribute to other areas within the team, leveraging your skills and experience to support our overall success.

About You:

You're a hands-on commissioning professional with practical experience undertaking testing and commissioning activities on Australian electrical infrastructure. You bring systematic technical knowledge, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work effectively across HV systems while following established protocols and standards. You're comfortable working both independently on technical tasks and collaboratively within project teams to deliver safe, compliant energisation outcomes.

You'll also bring:

  1. Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  2. 5-8 years' experience in commissioning, testing, or electrical engineering with HV systems (transmission, distribution, substations, or renewables)
  3. Demonstrated understanding of protection systems, secondary circuits, control systems, and Australian electrical standards
  4. Strong systematic troubleshooting and fault diagnosis capabilities with excellent attention to detail
  5. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications
  6. Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  7. Willingness to travel to metro and regional project sites
  8. Current driver's licence
