Job Description:
As a Chef at Whyalla Waves Cafe, you will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of dishes to a high standard. The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen and be confident in preparing both café-style classics and globally inspired meals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a diverse range of meals in line with our menu offerings
- Specialise in Mexican and Italian cuisine, chicken dishes, healthy wraps, and egg-based breakfast items
- Prepare popular café meals such as fish and chips, a variety of burgers, big breakfasts, eggs benedict, pulled beef brisket, and a range of fresh salads
- Prepare and present a selection of sweets including cakes, slices, pies, and pasties
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service
- Assist with inventory control and stock ordering
- Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations
Requirements:
- 2–3 years of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Strong skills in preparing Mexican and Italian dishes, wraps, burgers, chicken meals, and breakfast items
- Experience working with a wide menu that includes hot and cold beverages, salads, and café-style desserts
- Excellent knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- A passion for food, creativity, and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals
