Hidden Gem is an iconic venue renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, quality food, and local cafe. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and cook dishes to the highest standard during service in a busy kitchen.
  2. Ensure consistency in quality, presentation, and taste across all menu items.
  3. Work across various kitchen stations including grill, pans, larder, and fryer as needed.
  4. Assist with daily kitchen prep and maintain readiness for peak periods.
  5. Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  6. Collaborate with the Cook / kitchen hand on menu development and specials.
  7. Monitor stock levels and assist with stock rotation and inventory control.
  8. Train and support junior kitchen staff when required.
  9. Menu & Recipe Development: Researching trends to create cohesive menus and daily specials that align with the establishment's identity and budget.
  10. Kitchen Management: Overseeing daily operations, including setting up workstations, monitoring equipment maintenance, and ensuring service runs on time.
  11. Food Quality & Presentation: Monitoring every stage of preparation to ensure dishes meet high standards for taste, temperature, and visual appeal.
  12. Administrative Duties: Managing food costs, setting prices, maintaining inventory, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure profitability.
  13. Safety & Hygiene: Enforcing strict adherence to local health codes, sanitation regulations, and safe food handling practices.
  14. Staff Leadership: Hiring, training, and mentoring kitchen staff while managing schedules and fostering a cooperative team environment

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a Chef in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
  2. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  3. Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  4. Flexibility to work across a 7-day roster including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  5. Positive attitude and strong team ethic.
