About the Position:

In the role of Chef at Imperial Homestead York, you will be instrumental in creating and delivering high-quality culinary experiences that highlight our seasonal menus and locally sourced produce. You will lead the kitchen operations, overseeing the preparation and presentation of dishes for our fine dining restaurant, pub offerings, and events, while ensuring consistency, innovation, and adherence to food safety standards. This position is key to maintaining our reputation for exceptional cuisine and contributing to memorable dining experiences for our guests in this iconic heritage venue.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Planning and developing seasonal menus featuring Modern Australian cuisine and reimagined pub classics using local Avon region ingredients
  2. Preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality dishes to the highest standards
  3. Monitoring the quality of food at all stages of preparation and service
  4. Managing kitchen supplies, inventory, and cost control while minimising waste
  5. Enforcing strict food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations
  6. Collaborating closely with the front-of-house team to accommodate dietary requirements and ensure exceptional guest service
  7. Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff where applicable
  8. Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment

Requirements:

  1. Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
  2. Cert III and IV in Commercial Cookery plus Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management.
  3. Minimum 18 months relevant experience as a Chef.
  4. Required technical and interpersonal skills: strong technical cooking skills with experience in Modern Australian cuisine, knowledge of food safety standards (including HACCP), and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, teamwork abilities, creativity, and a positive, professional attitude.
