A2B Clyde North, Victoria-based location, is looking to hire a chef for the ongoing business. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of high-quality food in dining and catering establishments.
  2. Planning the menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
  3. Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and other food preparation workers.
  4. To cook and season South Indian dishes (Sambar, Rasam, Pongal, Dosai, Idli, Parotta, different types of rice, etc.) and other Indian sweets and snacks)
  5. Discussing food preparation issues with managers, dietitians, kitchen and waiting staff.
  6. Freeze and preserve food as required.
  7. Responsible for quality control of all dishes to ensure consistent taste, flavour, presentation and delivery.
  8. Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements.
  9. Maintaining an effective operation of the kitchen.
  10. Ensuring strict compliance with hygiene and food safety requirements.
  11. Attention to detail
  12. Training other kitchen staff and apprentices
  13. Organising the duty roster of the staff

To be successful for this position, you must possess the following:

  1. Minimum Qualification is a Diploma in Hospitality. Adequate experience may be acceptable in lieu of formal qualifications.
  2. Previous experience as a chef in an Indian restaurant, ideally with exposure to South Indian vegetarian cuisine
  3. Enthusiastic and proactive with excellent communication skills.
  4. Good leadership skills with attention to detail.
