About the role

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and highly skilled Chef to join our team at JR BAINS BROTHERS PTY LTD. This is a full-time position within our restaurant, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests through high-quality food preparation and outstanding kitchen operations.

Job Description

Maintain records of food costs, consumption and inventory. Prepare and cook food of all types on a regular basis and for special guest or functions. Maintaining occupational health safety procedures etc. Cooking food by range of methods that is baking, roasting, frying, grilling, etc. Coordinate planning and purchasing for the food operations. Collaborate with other personnel to plan and develop recipes and menus.

Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation. Maintaining occupational health safety procedure etc. Proper handling of electrical equipment’s used, microwave, oven, food processor, refrigerator, freezer etc. Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment’s to staff and advise on cooking procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and supervise the kitchen team by providing effective guidance, mentoring, recruitment support, and staff training
  2. Design, update, and implement seasonal menus with a focus on creativity, consistency, and exceptional food quality
  3. Oversee all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure every dish meets the restaurant’s quality standards
  4. Ensure strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations at all times
  5. Manage stock control, inventory levels, supplier coordination, and procurement of fresh, high-quality ingredients in a cost-effective manner
  6. Monitor day-to-day kitchen operations to ensure smooth, timely, and efficient service delivery
  7. Work closely with front-of-house management to ensure a seamless and exceptional dining experience for guests
  8. Prepare staff rosters, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a positive and productive team environment
  9. Keep up to date with current culinary trends, innovative cooking techniques, and seasonal produce to enhance menu offerings

What We’re Looking For

  1. Excellent culinary skills, with a strong understanding of flavour profiles and plating
  2. Commitment to using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients
  3. Excellent time management and organisational abilities
  4. Passion for the hospitality industry and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
  5. Required Australian qualifications: Certificate IV, and Diploma in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
  6. Minimum 1 year of Australian work experience as a Chef is required
  7. Australian qualifications and prior Australian work experience will be highly preferred
