Due to continued growth, we are seeking skilled and passionate Chefs and Cooks to join our dynamic kitchen team.
About the Positions:
We are seeking to fill multiple full-time positions for Chefs and Cooks to work in our busy commercial kitchen. The successful candidates will be responsible for food preparation, cooking, and ensuring the smooth operation of their designated section.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- For Chef:
- Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
- Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen and waiting staff.
- Supervising and coordinating the work of kitchen staff, including Cooks and Apprentices.
- Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures.
- Preparing and cooking high-quality dishes.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards.
- Stock control and managing kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef.
- For Cook):
- Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality and regulating temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment.
- Preparing and cooking food, including sauces, meats, seafood, and vegetables.
- Portioning food, adding gravies and sauces, and garnishing meals to ensure presentation standards.
- Advising on food selection and preparation, and explaining the influence of cooking methods on flavour.
- Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities.
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment in accordance with food safety standards.
Skills and Experience Required:
- For Chef: A minimum of one year of relevant post-qualification experience. A relevant AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma or Certificate IV (or equivalent).
- For Cook: A minimum of one year of relevant experience. A relevant AQF Certificate IV
- Demonstrated ability to perform the key duties listed above.
- In-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills (for Chef position).
- Excellent time management and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- A proven commitment to food safety and hygiene.
