JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION: Carpenter

REPORTS TO: Site Manager

LOCATION: Perth and Regional areas

PURPOSE OF JOB

Constructs and installs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, and cuts, shapes and fits timber parts to form structures and fittings. Creating forms for various structures. Building structures on site using wood or putting together frames that have been made elsewhere. Dismantling casts without damaging them, so that they can be used again. Measuring, cutting and shaping wood and similar materials.

As a tradesman, the incumbent will be expected to provide direction and support to apprentices or labourers as may be required from time to time and shall execute all duties in a professional and timely manner with a focus on OH&S in all aspects of their daily tasks.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

The position is responsible for:

1. Construct, erect, install, renovate and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, wallboard and other materials, and cut, shape and fit timber parts to form structures and fittings, including formwork.
2. Conduct repair work and installation of various fixtures as required.
3. Ability to assess the quality of woodwork and materials.
4. All work executed is compliant with a tradesman's standard, quality and executed in a timely manner.
5. Ability to operate tools and equipment.
6. Compliance with local building codes and health and safety regulations.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

1. Adhere to safe work practices, instructions and rules.
2. Immediately report any unsafe work conditions or equipment and workplace incidents to management.
3. Operate vehicles, plant and equipment in a proper manner and ensure professional appearance.
4. Co-operate with all other personnel to enable the health, safety and environmental responsibilities of the Company and Clients to be achieved.
