Who We Are:

Dowse & Co are a small family owned and operated building company based in Weipa providing a wide range of building and maintenance works for a local Indigenous community and Weipa residents. As our business is growing we are seeking an all-rounder carpenter with a good general knowledge of the building industry.

The position:

We are looking for a qualified, driven & reliable Carpenter who will be responsible for the safe and cost-effective delivery of projects including residential upgrades, renovations, disabled modifications, and maintenance works. This role would be for a motivated individual who is able to self-manage, work well in a team and is neat and tidy. Prefer Long term commitment required. This is not FIFO.

Must have:

1. Carpentry Qualification with Broad carpentry skillset
2. Current Drivers Licence
3. Own tools and vehicle with the ability to use safely and proficiently
4. Must be able to pass a drug and Alcohol test.
5. Must have accommodation or able to get accommodation in Weipa. Some rental assistance may be offered for right candidate.
6. Construction Induction White Card
7. Positive attitude including towards safety
8. Attention to detail , strong work ethic and be respectful to fellow workers and clients.
9. Experience in remote community works will be an advantage

The role:

Reporting to the Business Manager your role will include:

1. Residential upgrades - reroofs, full internal upgrades, kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, painting, disabled modifications etc
2. Residential maintenance including servicing doors and windows, replacing decking, fascias & gutters etc
3. Undertake all aspects of the Carpentry trade

1. Competitive hourly rate negotiable depending on experience and ability. Minimum $76,515 per annum plus super
