Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Butcher to join our team. This is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Pemulwuy, NSW.
About the Role
As a Butcher, you will play a key role in the preparation and presentation of meat products, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance with food safety standards. Your technical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to customer service will support our reputation for delivering premium meat products.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Preparing and cutting meat products including beef, lamb, pork and poultry according to customer specifications and for retail display. • Trimming, boning, slicing and portioning meat using hand tools and specialised butchery equipment.• Preparing value-added products such as marinated meats, sausages and small goods.• Mixing seasonings, spices and curing ingredients for specialty products as required.• Operating and maintaining meat processing equipment, including mincers and sausage fillers.• Advising customers on different cuts of meat, cooking methods and suitable product selections.• Maintaining attractive and hygienic display cabinets in accordance with food safety standards.• Monitoring stock levels, assisting with ordering, and minimising product wastage.• Ensuring all work practices comply with food safety standards, hygiene regulations, and workplace health and safety requirements.• Cleaning and sanitising work areas, equipment, and tools in accordance with company procedures.• Providing friendly and professional customer service, including responding to product enquiries and special orders.
Skills & Experience – Who we’re looking for:
For this position, it is expected that you would possess the following qualifications/work experience:
• Minimum Certificate III in Meat Processing or equivalent qualification, OR at least 3 years of relevant work experience. • At least 1 year of relevant work experience• Demonstrated hands-on experience in retail meat preparation and butchery. • Strong knowledge of meat cuts, trimming techniques, and portion control. • Sound communication of food safety, hygiene, and WHS requirements. • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team. • High attention to detail and commitment to product quality. • Ability to work efficiently in a fast- paced retail environment. • A reliable, positive and customer-focused attitude.
