Role Overview
The Accountant at Ausun Accountants is responsible for managing and overseeing various financial functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial advice to clients. The role requires a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, examine, and analyse accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. This includes monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a diverse range of clients, from sole traders to small businesses.
- Prepare tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies. Ensure compliance with current taxation legislation, keep up to date with changes in tax law, and advise clients on effective tax planning and optimisation strategies to minimise their tax liabilities.
- Conduct thorough internal and external audits to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and accounting standards. This involves detailed review and testing of financial records, identifying areas of non-compliance or risk, and preparing comprehensive audit reports with recommendations for improvement.
- Develop, maintain, and analyse budgets for clients, including cash flow forecasts and financial projections. Prepare periodic reports comparing budgeted costs to actual costs, identify variances, and provide actionable insights to help clients manage their finances effectively.
- Provide strategic financial advice to clients, including detailed analysis of investment opportunities, cost reduction strategies, and revenue enhancement strategies. Assist clients with business planning, financial modelling, and identifying key financial drivers to improve their business performance.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and other accounting functions. This includes processing invoices, reconciling accounts, preparing payroll, and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner. Provide clients with regular updates on their financial position and cash flow status.
- Implement and maintain accounting systems and software, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning efficiently. Develop and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard assets, enhance the accuracy of financial records, and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports and statements for clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders. Conduct detailed financial investigations to identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement and recommend practical solutions to optimise business performance and compliance. Provide clients with clear, actionable advice based on your findings.
Selection Criteria
- Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional accounting work experience.
- Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and a strong understanding of Australian accounting standards. Attention to details and strong analytical capabilities. Strong professional English communication skills for client advisory and reporting.
